Gérald Darmanin warns of failures in investigations into sexual violence

The Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, sent a letter to his counterpart in the Interior, highlighting failures in investigations concerning sexual violence against minors. This letter, revealed by Le Monde, mentions several dysfunctions, including the presence of unregistered cases according to the judicial system.

In particular, Darmanin reported complaints that have not been forwarded to the judiciary, contributing to delays and losses of files. This finding was brought to light following the death of Lyhanna in June, which shocked society.

According to franceinfo, the minister also stated that there are currently 85,047 complaints under processing for sexual violence against minors, highlighting the extent of the problem faced in the investigations.
