Gianni Amelio presents "Nessun dolore" at the Venice Film Festival
Gianni Amelio's film, "Nessun dolore," is presented out of competition at the Venice International Film Festival with a top-notch cast.

The film "Nessun dolore," directed by Gianni Amelio, was presented out of competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The protagonist of the film is Davide, a Roman bookseller who faces a radical change in his life after meeting a North African boy and a young Algerian migrant.
Alessandro Borghi plays the role of Davide, alongside Valeria Golino and Valerio Mastandrea. The film explores themes related to migration and offers a glimpse into contemporary life in Italy. Amelio questions private relationships in a socially complex context.
"Nessun dolore" addresses issues of hospitality and guilt, integrating elements of surrealism into the narrative. The film aims to represent the lives of those seeking refuge and security, posing questions about the relationship between those who come from afar and those who can offer help.

The film will be released in Italian cinemas on September 24, distributed by 01 Distribution. Amelio's creation has been met with interest, given his previous work on similar themes, particularly with "Lamerica," made thirty years ago.
Cast members, including Borghi and Golino, described the protagonist as pure and fragile, yet not weak, highlighting the complexity of the character and the overall narrative.
"Nessun dolore" presents itself as a significant work on the theme of hospitality and the experiences of those in vulnerable situations.
