GNR seizes 2.7 tons of cocaine in Figueira da Foz
The GNR operation led to the arrest of seven individuals along with the seizure of vehicles and weapons.

The Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) seized 2.7 tons of cocaine in Figueira da Foz. This operation resulted from the dismantling of a criminal network that, according to authorities, was preparing to introduce drugs into the country and the European market.
In addition to the cocaine, security forces detained seven individuals involved in the operation. The GNR also confiscated six vehicles and a boat, along with four military-grade firearms, including AK47s, popularly known as kalashnikovs.
The seizure took place at various locations along the coast and involved coordination with other security agencies. The GNR described the operation as one of the most significant in the fight against drug trafficking in Portugal.

Authorities are investigating the international ties of the criminal network, which allegedly had contacts in multiple countries. The aim of the organized crime group was the distribution of drugs across various parts of Europe.
Reports indicate that the significant quantities of cocaine found reflect a growing trend in trafficking operations in the region. According to the GNR, the seizure could have a considerable impact on local drug trafficking activities.
This case exemplifies the ongoing operations of the GNR in combating drug trafficking and organized crime in Portugal. The security force announced that it will continue to dedicate resources to dismantle similar networks.
