The Ministry of Education has a debt of 38 million euros to the polytechnic institutes, as reported by Jornal de Notícias. This amount relates, among other issues, to changes in performance evaluation in the Public Administration and the unfreezing of teaching careers.

According to the same newspaper, since the unfreezing of careers in Education, there has been no budget increase, despite promises made by government authorities.

The lack of funding directly impacts the polytechnics, which have seen their operational capacities compromised. This issue has been raised in various media outlets, including Público, which also reported on the difficulties hospitals face in hiring new nurses, despite the announcement of 3,000 new hires.

The current situation raises concerns about the continuity of educational offerings in polytechnics and the working conditions of teachers, who are awaiting the regularization of their careers.

While the Public Administration faces the challenges of financial recovery, the educational community watches with concern the lack of fulfilled promises regarding the budget. This is a recurring theme in discussions about education funding in Portugal.

The demands from polytechnics and teachers continue, while operational costs and expectations for adjusted salaries remain unresolved.
