The Government of Portugal has announced the recognition of national public interest in establishing an assembly line for A-29N Super Tucano military aircraft. The decision was approved during a Council of Ministers meeting held this Thursday.

The future assembly line is expected to be located at Beja Air Base, although the implementation of the project depends on certain conditions being met. This initiative aims to strengthen the country's industrial capacity in the defense sector.

The resolution approved by the Government is seen as progress on the previously announced project, which aims to develop and produce military aircraft domestically. The A-29N Super Tucano is a lightweight attack aircraft designed for close air support.

While no additional details have been provided regarding the necessary conditions for the installation, the recognition of public interest is considered a significant step forward for the project's progress.

Authorities believe that the assembly line in Beja could contribute to both the local and national economies, as well as potentially create new jobs in the region.

The project has been closely monitored by various stakeholders, including the defense industry and other government entities, who see an opportunity for the development of industrial capability in Portugal.
