Graz Mayor Elke Kahr Re-elected
Elke Kahr was re-elected as mayor in the Graz city council; a decision on the vice mayor is still pending.

The inaugural session of the new Graz city council took place on Thursday, during which Mayor Elke Kahr from the KPÖ was officially re-elected. Kahr received 40 out of a total of 48 votes, supported by members of her own party as well as the Greens, the ÖVP, and the SPÖ. A vote was also held for the vice mayor, which is expected to continue into a voting marathon until Friday evening.
Kahr and Judith Schwentner from the Greens announced a coalition agreement last week, securing a narrow majority of 25 seats in the 48-member city council. This cooperation forms the basis for political work in the coming years.
During the session, Kahr stated that she would not change her approach in order to tackle the existing challenges facing the city. The election of the vice mayor remains undecided, and the outcome is eagerly anticipated.
