Grupo Casas Bahia files for judicial recovery due to significant losses

Grupo Casas Bahia filed a request for judicial recovery at the 2nd Bankruptcy and Judicial Recoveries Court in São Paulo on Sunday night (16). According to the company's statement, this measure is necessary to reorganize its finances in light of a debt totaling R$ 17.3 billion.

The decision to seek judicial recovery comes after a period of operational difficulties for the retail chain, which has included store closures and employee layoffs.

Data from Folha de S.Paulo indicate that, in addition to the significant debt, recent months have been marked by accounting losses that have affected the company's financial health.

While the request for judicial recovery has been officially submitted, the company is also evaluating the possibility of extrajudicial recovery, as mentioned in previous reports.

Judicial recovery is a mechanism provided for in Brazilian legislation, allowing financially distressed companies to renegotiate their debts and continue operations, seeking a viable solution for their business.
