Hackers have managed to infiltrate the computer systems of the city of Berlin, gaining access to a significant amount of data belonging to both citizens and officials. The personal information that has been compromised includes sensitive details, which are now at risk of being made public if the attackers' demands are not met.

The hackers, identified as part of the group Rhysida, are demanding a payment of 30 bitcoins, equivalent to approximately two million euros, to prevent the publication of the data. The situation was initially reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel, which revealed details about the group of cybercriminals' demands.

In response to the attack, Berlin's mayor, Kai Wegner, stated that the city will not yield to foreign extortion. Wegner emphasized that the security and protection of citizens' data are priorities and that the city is developing plans to address the situation without capitulating to the hackers' demands.

Cybersecurity experts are collaborating with authorities to mitigate the damage and assess the extent of the attack. The breach occurred against a backdrop of growing concerns about data security in many cities, where environmental authorities have faced increasing challenges related to cybersecurity.

The incident underscores the importance of protecting against cyberattacks, not only to ensure citizens' privacy but also to maintain the integrity of municipal operations. Investigations into the origin of the attack and the exact nature of the data obtained are entering a critical stage to prevent more severe consequences.

Meanwhile, Berlin authorities are exploring various legal and technical options to defend and recover the data. The case highlights how the fight against cybercrime continues to be a significant challenge in an increasingly interconnected world.
