Hundreds of people have camped in the center of Madrid, at Puerta del Sol, to protest against the housing crisis in Spain. The camp started after a demonstration that drew tens of thousands to the streets of the capital, where participants expressed their outrage at high rental prices and evictions.

The protesters are demanding greater protection for tenants, calling for measures that include a ban on evictions without alternative housing. Some participants, who are already at the site with tents, stated that the protest has no end date.

According to reports, the protesters were motivated by the eviction of Maricarmen, a woman who lived much of her life in the property that was taken from her. This case, among others, highlights the housing crisis experienced by many citizens in Madrid.

The demonstration attracted a large number of supporters, who began marching through the streets, culminating in the decision to camp in the square, where several tents have already been set up. The response from police and authorities was not mentioned in the reports.

The protests come at a time when many tenants are struggling to survive in an increasingly inaccessible housing market, demanding immediate action from the government to address housing issues.

Although exact figures on the number of people present at the protests vary between sources, all reports agree that the situation required a mass collective response, symbolizing the growing public dissatisfaction with the management of the housing crisis in Spain.
