The government announced a clarification in the decree-law regulating incentives for supplementary work in the medical sector, now also covering INEM (National Institute of Medical Emergency). This inclusion comes after an alert from the Workers' Commission back in May, which highlighted the previous exclusion of INEM from the incentive measures.

The newly approved measure aims to allow INEM professionals to benefit from overtime, just like workers from the VMER (Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Vehicles) and internal emergencies. This decision seeks to improve the response and availability of emergency medical services in Portugal.

The change has been welcomed by workers in the sector, who have been pushing for an update that recognizes their importance and the challenges they face daily. The government's clarification is seen as a positive step towards ensuring better working conditions.
