Intense explosive activity of Etna raises concerns for air traffic
Etna's volcanic activity has reached alarming levels, impacting flights.

The Voragine crater of Etna has recorded new intense explosive activity, with lava flows reaching an altitude of 1,395 meters. Lava fountains were observed during the night, indicating a significant increase in volcanic activity.
According to reports, lava has been expelled from openings located at 2,750 and 1,990 meters above sea level. This has raised new concerns for air traffic in the region.
The aviation alert level has returned to red, as confirmed by official sources. Previously, Catania airport had only reopened the day before after being closed for nine days, during which over 700 flights were cancelled.

It is reported that the fallout of volcanic ash is heading southeast, affecting the area around Catania airport. Authorities are on alert for possible closures if the situation worsens further.
The intensifying explosions and elevated volcanic tremors are heightening concerns regarding air safety and the management of the ongoing situation.
