Investigations against caregiver expand to over 120 cases
A previously convicted nurse could be responsible for many more deaths. Numerous exhumations have already been conducted in Aachen and Cologne.
The Aachen public prosecutor's office is investigating over 120 additional suspicious cases against a former caregiver who was already convicted in November for ten counts of murder. The caregiver is accused of administering excessive amounts of sedatives to severely ill patients, leading to their deaths.
As part of these new investigations, 39 bodies have been exhumed so far. This was done in connection with the suspicious cases that are now to be examined more closely. The Cologne public prosecutor's office has also exhumed seven bodies in its proceedings to potentially bring further charges.
The ongoing investigations and the large number of suspicious cases indicate that the case of the convicted caregiver could potentially take on even broader dimensions. The public prosecutor's offices in Aachen and Cologne are cooperating to shed light on all aspects of these serious allegations.
