Israeli settlers launched a coordinated attack on a West Bank village during the olive harvest, setting fire to olive trees and injuring at least two people, including a journalist from The Washington Post. The attack disrupted the annual harvest, a significant event for local Palestinian farmers.

Reports indicate that the settlers, some of whom were masked and armed with clubs and guns, targeted residents attempting to harvest their olives. The violence, described as a pogrom, occurred in the towns of Abu Falah and Turmus Ayya, affecting local agricultural activities and recently reported as part of an ongoing trend of violence against Palestinian farmers in the region.

Among the injured was Heidi Levine, a veteran photojournalist, who was beaten while covering the attacks. Following the incident, she was taken to a hospital in Ramallah, where it was revealed that she suffered from injuries including four broken vertebrae.

Witnesses reported that the settlers not only set fire to trees but also threw rocks at Palestinians during the assault. This escalation of violence coincides with a reported increase in settler attacks aimed at disrupting the olive harvest, which has seen over 230 incidents since September.

The Israeli authorities have faced criticism regarding the violence, with various media outlets highlighting the dangers that journalists and local farmers face in the area. In one instance, Levine's injuries were documented through photographs showing her being treated medically following the incident.

As the violence continues, Palestinian authorities and organizations have expressed their concern. The attacks against both the farmers and journalists underscore ongoing tensions in the occupied West Bank, particularly during the olive harvesting season, which is crucial for many local communities.
