Jacques Doucet, who was the voice of the Montreal Expos, died Thursday at the age of 86. He had been the play-by-play commentator for the baseball team since its inception in Major League Baseball until their departure in 2004, according to several sources.
Doucet was appreciated for his professionalism, as well as his sense of humor. Pierre Arsenault, a former colleague at the radio, recalls some of his on-air teasing, which was part of his charm as a commentator.
The general manager of Baseball Quebec hailed Doucet as a man who was able to Frenchify the terms of his sport, considering him a true poet of baseball on the planet.
