John van 't Schip appointed new head coach of Kazakhstan

John van 't Schip is the new head coach of Kazakhstan. This is his third position as head coach of a country, following previous tenures with Greece and Armenia. The 62-year-old Dutchman has reached an agreement with the Kazakhstan Football Federation.

Van 't Schip served as interim coach at Ajax during the 2024/2025 season. After this period, he was associated with the Armenian Football Federation for a few months. From mid-2025, he had been without a club and was looking for a new challenge.

Kazakhstan recently struggled to qualify for last summer's World Cup. In their qualification group, which included Belgium, Wales, North Macedonia, and Liechtenstein, they were unable to advance.

The appointment of Van 't Schip is seen as an opportunity for Kazakhstan to reposition itself after missing out on significant tournaments and to provide a new direction for the team.

The focus is on strengthening the national team, with hopes that Van 't Schip's experience at the highest level will have a positive impact on the team's performance in future qualifications.
