José Eduardo Martins advocates nuclear energy to support data centers in Portugal
José Eduardo Martins warned the Government about the need to invest in nuclear energy for the establishment of data centers in the country.

José Eduardo Martins, former Secretary of State for the Environment, today warned the Government that it cannot oppose investment in nuclear energy if it aims to promote the establishment of data centers in Portugal. This statement was made during a class at the PSD Summer University, aimed at young social democrats, an event that runs until Sunday.
The panel dedicated to nuclear energy emphasized the importance of this energy source for technological and economic development, especially in light of the increasing need for data processing infrastructure.

Throughout the debate, Martins underscored that the connection between nuclear energy and data centers is crucial to ensuring an efficient and sustainable energy supply, considering the evolution and expansion of this sector in Portugal.
Representatives from various political backgrounds, including an adviser to António José Seguro, also addressed the need for energy diversification, reflecting on the country's energy future and the different options available.
