Kidnapped Imperial Eagle returns to Serbia after months

The Imperial Eagle, which had been held captive by bird smugglers in the Middle East for months, has returned to its homeland of Serbia. According to bird conservationists, the release of the bird took place this week. Preliminary information indicates that the animal embarked on a journey to Syria and Lebanon before its return.

The circumstances surrounding its kidnapping are complex, as the smugglers reportedly demanded a ransom. During the months the eagle was in their custody, regular negotiations for its return apparently took place.

With the release of the Imperial Eagle "Feliks," an important step is being taken towards the protection of rare bird species. The bird is now back in the Serbian wilderness, where it will be integrated into its natural habitat.
