Lisbon inaugurates memorial for the victims of the Elevador da Glória
The municipality of Lisbon has commemorated the victims of the Elevador da Glória accident with a new memorial, while families await answers.

This morning, the municipality of Lisbon inaugurated a memorial in honor of the 16 victims of the accident that occurred at the Elevador da Glória a year ago. The event aims to remember and pay tribute to those who lost their lives in this tragic incident, which left a significant impact on the local community.
Carlos Moedas, president of the Lisbon City Council, attended the inauguration ceremony and emphasized the importance of never forgetting the victims. Furthermore, Moedas stated that the municipality has "always been present" in supporting the affected families, although criticisms regarding the lack of answers persist.
During the event, 17 people were injured in Russian airstrikes in the city of Odessa, southern Ukraine. This incident occurs in a context of regional tension but is not directly related to the tribute held in Lisbon.

The relatives of the Elevador da Glória victims expressed their discontent, stating that they are still waiting for answers regarding the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The absence of complete clarifications has generated a climate of frustration among the loved ones of the deceased.
Also this morning, Moedas refrained from answering questions about the criticisms directed at the municipality related to the accident and the subsequent response. The focus of the ceremony was, according to him, the memory of the victims and continued support for their families.
The inauguration of this memorial marks one year since the tragedy and reinvokes the need to understand what happened. The city of Lisbon seeks, through this initiative, not only to remember the deceased but also to provide a space for reflection and mourning for the community.
