Locarno Film Festival: Golden Leopard for Romanian Film 'You Don’t Belong Here'

During the 79th Locarno Film Festival, the Golden Leopard was awarded to the Romanian film 'You Don’t Belong Here' (French title: 'Nu e locul tau aici') directed by Florin Șerban. The official award ceremony took place on Saturday afternoon after the international competition section concluded on Friday.

The jury, chaired by Belgian director Fabrice Du Welz, selected the winner of the Golden Leopard from 17 submitted feature films. This decision was made by the jury in accordance with the criteria for outstanding cinematic achievements.

In addition to the main prize, actor Teodor Butănescu received a special mention for his performance in his first leading role, highlighting the significance of his appearance in the film. The film addresses the complex relationship between a single father and his teenage son.

In the Best Director category, South Korean director Hong Sang-soo received the award for his film 'Nowhere To Lay My Eyes'. In conjunction, actress Kim Min-hee was recognized as the best actress for her role in this work, reflecting the high quality of the competition entries.

The festival in Locarno attracts filmmakers and film experts from around the world to showcase new talents and productions. This year's event not only presented the main awards but also featured discussions on various films and their artistic approaches.
