According to DER STANDARD, the remains of the two men were discovered along with a German military motorcycle in the riverbed of the Danube. The exhumation of the soldiers' remains is taking place in the Hungarian capital due to the historically low water levels.

According to Tagesspiegel, identification tags on the fated men could allow for a later identification of the soldiers. This discovery raises questions about the history of World War II and the fate of the fallen soldiers in the region.
