Marrit Steenbergen qualifies for 100-meter freestyle final at European Championships

Swimmer Marrit Steenbergen has convincingly qualified for the final of the 100-meter freestyle at the European Championships in Paris. In the semi-final, Steenbergen recorded a time of 52.44, the fastest ever at a European Championship, surpassing her previous record of 52.62 from the heats.

In the same semi-final, Milou van Wijk also performed strongly, securing a spot in the top sixteen with a time of 53.00. Imani de Jong and Yara van Kalmthout, two other Dutch swimmers, finished eighth at 54.02 and eleventh at 54.25, respectively. However, despite their performances, they could not qualify for the semi-finals, as only two swimmers per country are allowed to advance.

Roos Vanotterdijk, who reached the semi-final earlier after a swim-off, fell just eight hundredths short of a final spot in her race. She had an excellent swim, but it was not enough to advance to the final.

Florine Gaspard started quickly in her semi-final but could not maintain the pace and finished last. Her performance in this race was insufficient for qualification for the final.

The final of the 100-meter freestyle will take place on Tuesday evening at 6:42 PM. Steenbergen, with her new personal best, looks forward to combining her races for the possibility of an even faster time.
