Max Verstappen wins chaotic sprint race in Singapore
Max Verstappen secures victory in the Singapore sprint race, marked by multiple retirements and delays.

Max Verstappen has won the last Formula 1 sprint race of the year in Singapore. The Dutch Red Bull driver triumphed in a turbulent race that faced numerous challenges and retirements.
The race began with heavy rain, leading to a 38-minute delay. During this time, many drivers feared difficulties on the wet track, a concern that later proved to be justified. After the race finally started, several collisions caused chaos.
Notably, George Russell, who led at the start of the race, retired early, resulting in a significant shift in the race's dynamics. Russell hit the track barrier, bringing himself out of contention, which gave Verstappen a crucial advantage.

In addition to Russell, a total of nine drivers retired, setting a new negative record for sprint races in Formula 1. This high rate of retirements was attributed to unforeseen weather conditions and another collision during the final lap.
Lando Norris caused a spectacular incident on the last lap when he pushed his teammate Oscar Piastri off track. This led to yet another retirement and heightened the sense of chaos during the race. Despite these challenges, Verstappen managed to maintain his lead to the finish line and celebrated victory.
Nico Hülkenberg unexpectedly scored points in this turbulent sprint, adding to the intrigue of the race's outcome. Verstappen himself expressed criticism regarding the technology and the issues that arose during the race, prompting the FIA to address the technical problems.
