Meloni government becomes the longest-serving in Italian Republic history
Giorgia Meloni's government reaches a record of 1,413 days in power, while opposition parties criticize its management.

Today, September 4, the government led by Giorgia Meloni has become the longest-serving in the republican history of Italy, remaining in office for 1,413 days since October 22, 2022, thus surpassing the previous record set by Berlusconi II government.
On this milestone, Meloni reaffirmed the importance of stability as a necessary condition for planning and governance. Through social media, she stated: 'Stability is not a record to showcase, but the condition that allows a nation to plan.'
The Prime Minister also noted that while certain results have been achieved, many challenges remain. Her remarks come as she is expected in Bari to attend a celebration organized by Fratelli d'Italia.

However, the opposition has expressed criticism towards the government. The leader of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, commented by calling the four years of governance as 'wasted,' highlighting persistent issues.
According to reports, the Meloni government has registered results such as a low spread, a reduction of debt, an increase in employment, and a cut in the tax wedge, despite the absence of an exit from the infringement procedure. Furthermore, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) is progressing.
While celebrating this milestone, the government faces counter-demonstrations expected in the same city of Bari, highlighting ongoing political divisions.
