Argentine footballer Lionel Messi, who is currently 39 years old, has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire the majority stake in Club Deportivo Eldense, according to information released this Thursday.

Eldense, which recently competed in Spain's Segunda División, confirmed the agreement through a statement, describing the negotiation as a significant step for the club, which is on the rise in Spanish football.

According to sources, Messi aims to acquire 100% of the club's shares, which is based in Alicante. This acquisition would represent the second club in Spain under his control, as the player already holds a majority stake in Cornellá, which he acquired earlier.

Also according to various media reports, the offer presented by Messi would require notification to the Superior Sports Council, as the amount of shares to be acquired exceeds the 25% threshold required for a formal process in the operation of Spanish football.

The general director of Elche, Pedro Schinocca, expressed that it would be a pride to have a project led by Messi so close, highlighting the impact that the arrival of the Argentine star would have on local football.

The director made his statements in the context of speculation surrounding the future of the club.

The agreement, although preliminary, illustrates Messi's intention to expand his influence in football, beyond his already growing career as a player and businessman, continuing to build a strong brand in the sport.
