Meta has announced the AI model Muse Glimmer, which runs on consumer hardware and is commercially usable. At the same time, Mark Zuckerberg defends the use of competitors’ data.

Meta has introduced Muse Glimmer, an open model with over 30 billion parameters optimized for use on consumer hardware. The model is designed to be operated locally and to support commercial applications.
In an accompanying essay, Mark Zuckerberg defended the use and distillation of models from other providers and called for a reduction in regulatory requirements for U.S. laboratories. This is viewed as a direct response to the practices of companies like OpenAI and Anthropic.
According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, an open version of the model Muse Spark 1.2 is also expected in the near future, which could further advance developments in the field of open AI models.
