Mette-Marit attends first engagement as Norway's new queen
Following the death of King Harald V, Mette-Marit has attended her first official engagement as Queen of Norway.

Mette-Marit has today completed her first official engagement in her new role as Queen of Norway. This took place following the transition of the throne after the death of King Harald V, for whom the country is mourning.
The royal calendar of the Norwegian monarchy includes this engagement, while the Queen is simultaneously recovering from a lung transplant she underwent in the summer. However, the new monarch was not present at the memorial service for her late father-in-law, King Harald V.
According to reports, during her first public appearance after the death of King Harald V, Mette-Marit reached for the hand of King Haakon VIII for support. This underscores the emotional situation for the royal family.

The procession that took place after the monarch's death was an important moment for Mette-Marit as she officially stepped forward as the new queen. Her role will now also be reflected in the official schedule of the royal house.
The public is anticipating further engagements from Mette-Marit in her new capacity, as she continues her recovery from the surgery.
