Ministry offers no compensation for entrepreneurs due to low water levels

The Dutch government has announced that entrepreneurs experiencing economic damage due to low water levels should not expect any compensation. According to Minister Karremans of Infrastructure and Water Management, this situation does not constitute a natural disaster, and the water shortage is regarded as a normal business risk.

Minister Karremans made this statement during a visit to the Nijmegen region, where he engaged with local entrepreneurs. During his visit, he also took a trip on a measurement boat that monitors water levels on the Waal River.

The low water levels in many areas are so extreme that people can stand on the riverbed without difficulty. This raises concerns among entrepreneurs in regions that rely on adequate water supply.

Karremans emphasized that government measures are not warranted in this situation, and that entrepreneurs must manage their own risks.
