Moscow has described Fedorov's appointment as advisor to the Italian Defense Ministry as "ridiculous." Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented that if Gianni Rodari were alive, he could write a satirical fairy tale about the situation.
In response, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated that decisions are made with Rome in mind, not Moscow, highlighting a clear distinction between Italian and Russian interests.
Crosetto also expressed skepticism regarding Zakharova's familiarity with Rodari's works, reaffirming Italy's stance on security and defense. According to the minister, Moscow would like to see Italy in a position of weakness.
