MotoGP in Austria: Jorge Martin triumphs in the Sprint and claims pole position
Jorge Martin won the MotoGP Sprint in Austria, overtaking Marc Marquez and securing pole position for the main race.

During the MotoGP Sprint at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Jorge Martin took victory, benefiting from the fall of KTM rider Pedro Acosta, who was leading the race. Martin, riding an Aprilia, made up ground after quickly sliding to seventh position in the early laps and then made a decisive comeback to overtake Marquez, who finished second.
Martin's victory in the short sprint allowed him to regain the lead in the world championship, pulling ahead of Marquez by three points. This marked Martin's twentieth win in a Sprint race, his fourth this season. Acosta, following an incredible driving performance earlier, was forced to retire just three laps from the finish due to a crash.
In qualifying, Martin set the best time, securing pole position with a margin of 0.015 seconds over Marquez. KTM rider Acosta took third place, showing eagerness for his competition on home turf. During Friday's free practice, KTM had already demonstrated strong performance with Acosta standing out.

Overall, the Sprint race highlighted an intense competition between Martin and Marquez, with both riders showcasing great skill and determination. The situation flipped in an instant with Acosta's incident, leading to a dramatic finish that left KTM fans disappointed despite their rider's strong performance up to that point.
Martin expressed satisfaction with his victory, while Marquez tried to stay focused ahead of the upcoming main race, where he hopes to recover points for the championship. Marco Bezzecchi also played a significant role, completing the podium and securing a third place finish.
The next MotoGP race will take place in Japan, and the competition between Martin and Marquez is expected to intensify further, considering the close standings in the overall championship.
