MP opens inquiry into GNR officer for gunfire in Portalegre
A suspended GNR officer is under investigation after firing his weapon at the training center in Portalegre.

A member of the National Republican Guard (GNR) who fired his service weapon into the air at the training center in Portalegre in June is currently suspended. The incident occurred during an exercise at the center, where the use of firearms is allegedly regulated.
The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) has initiated a judicial inquiry to investigate the incident, considering that the shot, although it did not cause injuries, raises questions about safety at the location. Additionally, the officer faces an internal disciplinary process within the GNR.
The situation is being monitored by the relevant authorities, who will verify the circumstances surrounding the gunfire and the compliance with applicable safety regulations.
