The Munich Kammerspiele have been awarded the title of "Theater of the Year" in a survey conducted by the magazine "Theater heute." This honor returns to Bavaria, after last year's award went to the Theater Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt.

According to the survey results, which included 45 critics, the Munich Kammerspiele, under the leadership of Barbara Mundel, who succeeded Matthias Lilienthal, topped the rankings.

In the same survey, Paulina Alpen and Guido Lambrecht were recognized as Actors of the Year. Furthermore, the production of "Wallenstein" at the Munich Kammerspiele was named the best production.

Sharing second place in the rankings are the Maxim Gorki Theater, the Berliner Ensemble, and the Schauspiel Köln. These venues garnered particular attention in this survey during the final season of the Maxim Gorki Theater under Shermin Langhoff's direction.

The recognition of the Munich Kammerspiele reflects their influence and acknowledgment within the German theatre landscape.
