Natal registers largest drop in basic food basket price in July
According to Dieese, Natal was the Brazilian capital with the greatest reduction in the price of the basic food basket in July.

According to the Inter-Union Department of Statistical and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese), Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte, experienced the largest decrease in the price of the basic food basket in July among Brazilian capitals. The survey, released on Monday (10), indicated a reduction of 7.95% in the cost of the basic food basket in the capital compared to the previous month.
The study highlighted that the drop in prices of basic foods in the region significantly contributed to this reduction. While Natal led the list, the survey also revealed that out of a total of 27 capitals, 26 experienced decreases in the prices of the basic food basket during the same month.
On the other hand, São Paulo maintained the highest cost for the basic food basket, reaching R$ 915.01 after a monthly decrease of 5.23%. This price disparity reflects significant regional differences in food expenses.

Dieese's analysis also included the capital Aracaju in Sergipe, where the basic food basket was the cheapest among the capitals in July, priced at R$ 594.07 following a decrease of 5.76% compared to June.
Dieese's research provides a comprehensive view of the variations in basic food basket prices across the country, highlighting the dynamics of the food market and the differences in the cost of living among various Brazilian regions.
