NEC has been eliminated from the Champions League playoffs.

On Tuesday, the team from Nijmegen lost 3-0 to Norwegian FK Bodø/Glimt, preventing them from advancing to the group stage. This defeat effectively ends the chance for three Dutch teams in this season's Champions League.

Nijmegen was reduced to ten men just three minutes into the match when goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettaz received a red card for a handball outside the penalty area. This early dismissal proved to be a significant setback for NEC.

Following the expulsion, Bodø/Glimt scored, putting further pressure on NEC. Despite falling behind, NEC could not regain control of the game. Midway through the first half, the Norwegians scored again, leaving the Nijmegen team trailing 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, NEC was unable to improve their situation, and the score climbed to 3-0 with a third goal from Bodø/Glimt. The earlier home defeat, where they lost 1-3, was too much to overcome.

As a result of this outcome, NEC is relegated to the Europa League and must now focus on their remaining matches this season.
