Negotiations on housing decree between PSOE and Sumar become complicated
PSOE and Sumar have yet to reach an agreement on the housing decree, although a vote on the proposed texts is expected in Congress.

Negotiations between PSOE and Sumar regarding the housing royal decree continue without reaching a definitive agreement. Despite new drafts being sent, the parties still face disagreements on key issues such as protection against evictions and rental contract regulations.
According to sources from Sumar, the agreement is "still very far" from being realized, although the coalition acknowledges that they are making progress in the discussions. Rejection of certain terms of the decree has led to protests, including a sit-in at Sol in Madrid.
Additionally, in the context of these negotiations, the Government has requested an extraordinary plenary session in Congress to validate two housing decrees on Friday. These measures are expected to be discussed and voted on during the session.

The Council of Ministers, which was supposed to approve the decree on Tuesday, began more than an hour late due to these intense negotiations among the government partners. The lack of agreement between PSOE and Sumar has contributed to this delay, adding pressure to the discussions.
The eviction of Maricarmen, an 87-year-old woman, has been a significant catalyst for these negotiations. Subsequent protests have underscored the urgency of finding effective solutions to the housing crisis that affects many people in the country.
PSOE and Sumar are trying to resolve their differences, but Sumar insists that the decree be more ambitious in addressing housing issues. This includes ensuring more comprehensive protection against evictions and establishing reasonable conditions for rentals, all amidst growing social discontent.
