Netflix has announced a price increase for its subscriptions in Germany and Austria. This adjustment comes after more than two years without a price hike. The leading video streaming service cites a growing offering as the reason for the necessary price changes.

In Germany, the most expensive "Premium" subscription with 4K picture quality and 3D sound now costs €21.99 per month, up from €19.99. Subscribers in Austria are also affected by the price increase, with the "Premium" subscription offered at the same rates.

The base price for the Netflix subscription in Germany and Austria rises from €8.99 to €10.99. This price adjustment reflects a general trend that, however, is only evident in the two mentioned countries.

In addition to the increase in the base price, there are also adjustments for other subscriptions. The "Standard" subscription, which offers Full HD picture quality, will also become more expensive in both countries, although no specific prices have been announced at this time.

The changes are already documented on the Netflix website, and existing subscribers have been informed about the price hikes. Netflix anticipates that the adjustments will ultimately enable an improved user experience.
