Nick Kyrgios Accepts One-Month Ban for Cocaine Use, Enters Treatment Program
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios will return to competition after accepting a one-month ban and entering treatment for cocaine use.

Nick Kyrgios, the Australian tennis player, has been given a one-month suspension for testing positive for cocaine. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) acknowledged that Kyrgios's use of the substance occurred outside of competition. In response to the ban, Kyrgios expressed regret for what he called a 'huge mistake' and confirmed his entry into an approved treatment program.
The suspension followed an incident that took place on June 22 during an ATP 250 tournament in Spain. Initially facing a three-month suspension under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations, the length of Kyrgios's ban was reduced after he entered treatment and addressed his substance use.
Kyrgios will be eligible to compete again starting Friday, following the acceptance of the reduced suspension. His return to the sport comes as he works on his recovery and prepares for future tournaments.

The ITIA has stated that they take drug testing seriously and ensure fair competition among athletes. Kyrgios's case highlights ongoing issues regarding substance use in sports and the corresponding regulatory measures.
Kyrgios's recent actions, including his suspension and treatment program, have garnered significant media attention, focusing on the intersection of sports, health, and personal accountability.
As he prepares for his return, the tennis community will be watching closely to see how Kyrgios navigates his comeback from this challenging period.
