NTSB Reports on Ryanair Incident Involving Shattered Window and Engine Part
The NTSB announced findings related to a July incident on a Ryanair flight, where a passenger was nearly ejected through a broken window after an engine part shattered it.
A Ryanair Boeing 737 NG experienced a serious incident shortly after take-off from Greece on July 10, according to the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB reported that a part of the engine broke off and shattered a window, which resulted in a passenger being partially sucked through the opening.
Following the incident, the aircraft lost cabin pressure and was forced to make an emergency landing. The flight was en route to Germany at the time of the occurrence. Reports indicate that bird remains were found in the engine, contributing to the situation.
The NTSB has initiated an investigation into the incident and has issued a preliminary report outlining these findings. In light of the ongoing investigation, the NTSB publicly reprimanded Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary for remarks made to investors concerning the event, clarifying that he was not authorized to discuss specific details.
