Olympique Lyonnais achieved a decisive 3-0 victory against Sparta Prague in the return leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, played on Tuesday at Groupama Stadium. This win allows OL to qualify for the playoffs after losing 2-1 in the first leg in the Czech Republic.

Paulo Fonseca's team managed to turn the tide by dominating their opponent, especially after Sparta was reduced to ten men in the 34th minute. The scorers for Lyon were Ernest Nuamah in the 20th minute, Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the 66th minute, and Tyler Morton in the 72nd minute.

With this victory, Lyon now prepares to face Fenerbahçe in the Champions League playoffs. The first leg will take place in Istanbul on August 18, followed by the return at Groupama Stadium on August 26.

This performance from OL has been praised as an appropriate response to the pressure, especially following the failure of the first leg. The team demonstrated a fighting spirit by fielding their most effective attacking players, including Nuamah, who became a key player in this match.

Sparta Prague, rather defensive in the first half, saw their hopes of qualification dashed after the expulsion of one of their players, making it easier for Lyon to score three goals without conceding.

Olympique Lyonnais continues its quest to return to the Champions League group stage, now keeping an eye on the upcoming matches against Fenerbahçe.
