Pope Leo XIV arrived in France on Friday, September 25, to begin a four-day visit. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Pope at Orly Airport. Church bells rang in numerous cities across the country upon his arrival.

During his stay, Leo XIV is expected to celebrate a large mass at Place de la Concorde in Paris. According to the Vatican, approximately 700,000 to 800,000 people are expected to attend this service, where the Pope will speak about the meaning of life.

Interest in this visit has been compared to that of a rock star. Many faithful hope to see the Pope during his journey, and all hotel rooms near the venues have already been quickly booked. Previously, French security services had intensified their measures to ensure safety during the visit.

It has been reported that Emmanuel Macron will not participate in the services during this time. This is, according to the Élysée Palace, a consequence of tensions between the French government and the Vatican after plans for a festive reception for the Pope were adjusted.

One of the scheduled events of the papal visit is at UNESCO in Paris, where Leo XIV will give a speech. In it, he expressed concerns regarding new technologies like artificial intelligence and warned of their potential negative impacts.

Preparations for the visit also include various social and cultural activities. The Pope will remind attendees of issues related to social justice and spirituality in the context of today's challenges.
