Pope Leo XIV visits San Marino and participates in the Rimini Meeting
The Pontiff emphasizes the importance of respecting human dignity during his visit to San Marino.

At 9 a.m., Pope Leo XIV arrived by helicopter in San Marino, becoming the third Pope to visit the Republic, following John Paul II and Benedict XVI. His presence is historic as he is also the first head of state to appear from the main balcony of the Palazzo Pubblico in the last 40 years.
During his speech, the Pope stated, "There is no civil freedom without respect for the dignity of the person," highlighting the importance of these values in everyday life. He also issued a statement on humanitarian rights, asserting that they are often violated today.
The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, thanked the Pope for his attention to the harmony among peoples, in a historical context where the international order is exposed to tensions and conflicts. Mattarella emphasized that the Italian Constitution is guided by a continuous dialogue in service of peace and the dignity of the person.

Following the public address, Pope Leo XIV privately visited the Augustinian nuns at the Monastery of Saint Anthony of Padua, marking a direct interaction with local communities.
After the visit to San Marino, the Pope headed to Rimini to participate in the Meeting of Communion and Liberation. His presence at the Meeting is anticipated and represents a moment of discussion on socially and spiritually relevant issues.
The Pope's statements were well received by both the attending public and members of the institutions, who highlighted the importance of his message in an era of global challenges.
