Portugal Rally excluded from the 2027 World Rally Championship calendar
The Portugal Rally has been removed from the WRC calendar for 2027, surprising many stakeholders and causing discontent in various regions of the country.

The Portugal Rally will not be part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar in 2027. The change was communicated by the Automobile Club of Portugal, which stated that this last-minute decision is the result of changes made by the promoter, aimed at increasing the geographical diversity of the event.
Since 2009, the Portugal Rally has been continuously included in the WRC, having been recognized five times as the best rally in the world. The removal of this event from the calendar surprised local officials and business owners, particularly in the Northern and Central regions of Portugal.
Turismo Centro de Portugal (TPC) expressed its dissatisfaction with the exclusion of the rally, seeking clarification on the reasons behind this decision. Similarly, the entity from Porto and North also demanded explanations.

In a recent interview, Ni Amorim, a well-known figure in the sports community, expressed ignorance regarding the reasons behind the rally's removal but expressed hope that the event would return to the calendar in 2028.
The decision has caused outrage among residents of locations such as Viseu, Arganil, and Fafe, where the rally is not only a sporting event but also a significant source of tourism, contributing to hospitality, dining, commerce, and employment in the region.
With this change, the continuity of the rally and its economic impact on local communities are now in question, and various voices have raised protests, calling for a reconsideration of the decision.
