The decision follows a warning to R.T.I. (Mediaset), which used deepfake videos deemed lacking in transparency. The Authority has prohibited further use of the journalist's data, underscoring the importance of accurate information and ethical use of new technologies.
The Authority pointed out that all forms of content, including satirical, must be managed in a way that does not compromise individuals’ rights. This issue raises questions regarding the future use of deepfakes in similar contexts.
