José Luís Carneiro, Secretary-General of the Socialist Party (PS), accused the Prime Minister of whitewashing the reality of national exams during a statement in response to the speech delivered at the Summer University of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). According to Carneiro, the Prime Minister portrayed a situation that does not correspond to people's experiences, referring to a scenario of 'political whitewashing.'

Carneiro emphasized that the problems identified with national exams represent one of the government's biggest failures. He expressed his concern regarding how the issue is being addressed, stressing the need to acknowledge the difficulties faced rather than adding a layer of gloss to the situation.

The Secretary-General of the PS made these statements at a time when the management of school exams has faced widespread criticism, reflecting discontent among students, parents, and educators alike.

In addition to the issues concerning the exams, Carneiro also mentioned the performance of the Minister of Education, indicating that he should be held accountable for the observed failures.

On another note, athlete Fernando Pimenta was highlighted by Observador as the World Champion in K1 5,000m for the third time, a positive achievement that contrasts with the concerns expressed in politics.
