Rouen Normandy metropolis files lawsuit against BASF
Rouen Normandy metropolis has filed a complaint against BASF for TFA discharges into the Seine linked to its Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf plant.
On July 30, Rouen Normandy metropolis filed a lawsuit against BASF Agri Production, criticizing TFA discharges, a persistent pollutant derived from PFAS. The lawsuit specifically targets the Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf plant, which is classified as a high-threshold Seveso site.
According to France 24, these discharges are described as 'massive' in the Seine. Furthermore, the plant produces Fipronil, an insecticide banned in Europe but exported to Brazil.
