On the morning of Friday, August 28, Santos Dumont Airport, located in downtown Rio de Janeiro, reopened its operations, but with 13 canceled flights. This incident occurred one day after a small aircraft skidded off the runway during the afternoon of Thursday, August 27.

The accident caused the runway to be temporarily closed, affecting operations at the terminal. Reports indicate that the jet came to a stop in a grassy area, leading to the interruption of activities at the Rio airport.

The canceled departures were scheduled for destinations such as Brasília, Congonhas (SP), Guarulhos (SP), and Confins (MG). So far, there has been no clarification from Infraero or the airlines regarding the specific reasons for the cancellations.
