Schellebelle controls mosquito plague after years of nuisance

The nuisance caused by mosquitoes in Schellebelle, a district of Wichelen, has significantly decreased. This is attributed to a combination of measures taken by the municipality, as well as an increased population of swallows, which are natural predators of mosquitoes.

According to local sources, including the municipal government of Wichelen, only one complaint regarding mosquitoes has been received this year. This successful approach comes after years of disturbance that affected many residents.

Mayor Kenneth Taylor (Samen) confirmed that the situation is now under control. He emphasized that the municipality has implemented various measures to combat the mosquito plague, leading to the current improvement.

The decrease in the number of mosquitoes along the Schelde is viewed as a positive development for the residents of Schellebelle, who have lived with significant nuisance for many years.
