The Sinabung volcano on the Indonesian island of Sumatra erupted on Monday, releasing an ash cloud that reached 3,500 meters in height. The eruption lasted at least an hour, according to the Indonesian Volcanology Authority PVMBG.
Sinabung, which has been reactivated for the past 15 years, is currently classified as dangerous, corresponding to the second of four warning levels. Authorities noted that there are no reports of injuries or fatalities at this time.
The volcano's activity has drawn international attention, while authorities continue to monitor the situation. Sinabung is known for its explosive eruptions since its reawakening more than a decade ago.
