Singapore has announced a financial incentive package offering over €47,000 per child in its attempts to increase the birth rate. The country's Prime Minister remarked that the initiative aims to encourage families to have more children, addressing concerns about an aging population and a declining birth rate.

Among the highlights of this package is a "baby gift" of €6,750, along with approximately €21,600 in child-related credits. These amounts are designed to alleviate the financial burden on families and facilitate family growth.

In addition to financial aid, the government also announced improvements in other relevant areas. These include an increase in paternity leave for new parents and additional housing support for families with children.

Despite the government's efforts, doubts remain about the effectiveness of these incentives in genuinely altering young people's decisions regarding parenthood. Experts and analysts question whether the financial measures will be attractive enough to motivate young people to start families in a context of high living costs and housing challenges.

Reports suggest that while the measures are well-intentioned, the youth's response may not be as positive as expected. Concerns about the cost of living and financial stability continue to influence decisions regarding motherhood and fatherhood.

Thus, Singapore faces a challenge: to encourage higher birth rates without ensuring that the new policies will result in the desired demographic change. Reactions to this financial stimulus package are being closely monitored as the government evaluates the impact of the implemented measures.
