The National Health Service (SNS) released a strategic framework document on Friday that predicts stagnation in family doctor coverage until 2028.
According to the report, the percentage of patients assigned a family doctor is expected to remain at 85.37% during this period, the same figure established for 2024.
This prediction raises concerns about the future allocation of resources in primary health care and the SNS's ability to adequately meet the population's needs.
The release of this document comes at a time of debate over the challenges facing the health system in Portugal, particularly regarding the provision of basic medical care.
