South Park renames itself South America as satire against Donald Trump
The animated series South Park is changing its title to South America to mock Donald Trump's name changes.

The well-known animated series South Park will officially be renamed to South America as part of its 29th season. This decision is intended as a satirical response to U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to change various geographical names in the United States and beyond.
Recently, Trump has attempted to redesignate places like the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, which has been partially adopted by major companies such as Apple and Google. According to reports from The Guardian and other media, the series' name change was also inspired by the president's recent calls to use American names for geographical features.
The show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, stated in a statement that they are inspired by the "courage and patriotism" of the aforementioned companies. The new branding of South Park is also meant to criticize the alleged unilateral nature of the renaming efforts ordered by Trump.

The renaming to South America represents yet another satirical intervention by the series, which is known for its unconventional and often provocative approaches. In the past, the show has frequently addressed prominent figures and political themes to scrutinize and comment on their actions.
In recent weeks, South Park has already made several references to Trump, including an animation depicting the president at the Emmy Awards. This illustrates the series' ongoing engagement with the current political landscape in the U.S. and its key figures.
Reactions to the name change are likely to be mixed. While many fans appreciate the satirical sharpness of the series, there are also critics who find the political commentary controversial and provocative.
